Anyone who's visiting the O2 Arena in London for a sporting event or gig is sure to find themselves enjoying the experience. The new state of the art venue has much to recommend it for anyone hoping to enjoy some large scale entertainment, and its breathtaking proportions mean that it's already played host to some of the world's biggest pop stars and sporting heroes.
The O2 Arena is located in the South East of London and is the largest entertainment complex on the Greenwhich peninsula. With a top capacity of 23,000, you can rest assured that it's no small-fry! Instead, the arena is among the largest indoor venue in the whole of Europe. So far, the O2 has opened its doors to stars such as Justin Timberlake, Scissor Sisters, Prince, The Rolling Stones and Elton John and is sure to welcome many more in years to come.
What's more, the venue was part of a successful bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games, so basketball and gymnastic fans are sure to spending a little time in the arena when the Games roll around.
However, the O2 area hasn't been exclusively used for performances and sporting events - it also played host to the 2008 auditions for popular TV show the X Factor - surely making all of the auditionees feel like stars, even if only for a very brief time.
Having been designed with comfort and convenience in mind, the O2 Arena is one of the premier venues - so it's little wonder that visitors tend to enjoy its many extras. These include impressive acoustics, clear fields of vision wherever in the venue you're seated and nice comfy chairs too - perfect when events run on a little longer than expected. Also loved by sporting and music fans is the fact the swanky arena has 548 toilets! Meaning you're going to end up spending more time enjoying yourself and less time waiting around trying to use the facilities.
Served by the tube, buses, national Rail and Eurostar as well as offering ample parking, it shouldn't be difficult to get to the O2 Arena - the problem is more likely to be the fact that you won't want to leave. However, if you're heading into the capital to catch a show at the venue, it might be a good idea to make sure the hotels in London you're looking at are located nearby - to cut down on your travel time and maximise your enjoyment.
